I Have a Super Power

Seriously, MOVE IT.No kidding, I have a Super Power, and actually have had it for quite some time.

I can fix stuff without even trying.

You might actually be another lucky person with this unsung talent for walking into a situation where someone is having a problem... and voila... it instantly gets fixed.

I wish I could tell you how I do this, but I guess that's why it's called a Super Power, because it is beyond my ability to explain it to you. If my Super Power was "Ability To Explain Things Really Well", then I would, but unfortunately I am limited to "Ability To Spotaneously Fix Things With My Mind/Presence".

Newman was just in the next room saying, "I'm so glad you're here, I need your help." This after he recovered from the shock of me suddenly appearing in the room. (Super Heroes often do this in times of need before you even realize it.)

A computer problem. His mouse was doing "weird" things. By "weird" I mean, really really weird things. I would go in to detail but I don't want to upset you, gentle readers.

I, too, wrinkled my brow and said, "That is quite strange. How about let me try?"

So, I sat at the computer -- not because I had inkling of what I was going to do, but only because I couldn't really see the screen -- and then, POOF!

Newman: "HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!"

Me: "What? Is it fixed?"

Newman: "YES! What did you press?"

Me: "I don't know."

Newman: "Well it's fixed."

Me: "Well of course it is, dumby. Because that's what happens when I'm around. Stuff just miraculously fixes itself." <-- I didn't actually say this, but I was thinking it. If Newman had a Super Power too and it was coincidentally the "Ability To Read Other People's Sarcastic Thoughts" then he would've probably replied.

So there it is. The biggest downside to this is when I encounter really hot plumbers, mechanics, roofers, etc. who have the ability to repair something in life and the issue automatically fixes itself before I get a chance to meet these people.

Anybody gifted with this similar Super Power? Let me know. We could form a support group.

It's pretty lonely being this awesome.

  1. I can't fix things with my presence, but I definitely have a weird "power". I'll be reading something on the computer or in a book or on a billboard and someone will say out loud (either in person or on the radio or in a song) the same word that I'm reading. And it's not really common words like "The" or "and". It's words like "party" and "beach" and "stapler". It happens at least twice a day.
